Mothers who smoke and drink during their pregnancy also tend to predispose their children for ADHD. Exposure to lead and consumption of sugar and food additives have also been blamed. It is important that your child is diagnosed to eliminate or find any links to ADHD. Diagnosis for ADHD is little special because unlike other conditions it cannot be tested by the removal and testing of any sample but through observation. There are other causes of hyperactivity in children so it is not safe to conclude right away that they are suffering form ADHD. Food preservatives and artificial colors have been found not only to be connected to food allergies but also to ADHD in children. Foods that contain these chemicals are of low nutritional value so cutting them from your child's diet altogether should not be a problem and switching to healthier choices. Sugar as a cause of hyperactivity has named but studies remain inclusive but there are other reasons to cut out from your child's diet. Think of all the money you can save not buying all those soft drinks and, expensive snacks and so called food color and sugar juices. Either way you are on the winning side.
